Air Fryer Croutons

Air Fryer Croutons are so easy and quick to make at home! Ready in under 10 minutes, perfectly seasoned, and crunchy with a chewy interior.

Turn Ordinary Bread into Flavorful Croutons

You don’t need to buy fancy bread to make these salad toppings everyone loves. Turn ordinary sandwich bread into delicious crispy croutons. You could use leftover baguettes, loaves of French bread, or other bread.

It doesn’t matter if the bread is white, wheat, or pumpernickel. All you need is a few slices of leftover bread, butter, and some seasonings and you can get started.

How To Make Air Fryer Croutons

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 slices white bread, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes

  • Step 1
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Step 2
Place bread cubes in a large mixing bowl. Whisk parsley, garlic powder, and
seasoned salt into the melted butter and pour over bread cubes. Toss bread
cubes with a rubber spatula until evenly coated. Let sit for 2 minutes for butter
    to absorb.
  • Step 3
Place bread in the basket of the air fryer and cook for 4 minutes. Toss with a
spatula and cook for 2 minutes more. Transfer croutons to a paper towel-lined
    plate until ready to use.

Which bread is best for homemade croutons?

A crusty loaf works best in my opinion. Sourdough, challah, or baguette are perfect for making croutons in the Air Fryer.

Can I use fresh bread for making croutons?

Yes, you can use fresh bread. It will be harder to cut into cubes so I recommend tearing it apart instead and it will take longer to bake.

Can I make croutons in the oven?

Yes, you can also make croutons in the oven if you don’t have an Air Fryer. They will take longer to cook but you can make a bigger batch. Bake them for 15-20 minutes at 375 degrees F.

They can be stored in a zip lock bag or in an air-tight container. At room temperature. No need to put them in the refrigerator or freezer.

Yes, adding Parmesan to the croutons will taste wonderful.

Homemade croutons are the best! They’re so much tastier than the store-bought kind, and they last forever. Well, maybe not forever, but they definitely last longer than store-bought croutons. I made this batch and at the time of updating this recipe, it has been 6 months, and still as good as fresh. Crunchy, crispy, buttery, easy to bite.

Of course, your mileage may vary. The shelf life of homemade croutons depends on how well you store them. If you keep them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, they can last for months. But if you leave them out on the countertop, they’ll only last a few days.

So if you’re looking for croutons that will last, homemade is the way to go. Just be sure to store them properly and they’ll keep for ages.

What Do I Serve With Croutons?

Croutons are the best on top of creamy soups.
